2025 Color of the Year Selections: A Rich Palette of Warmth & Comfort
A vibrant palette of 2025 trends showcasing a diverse array of shades ranging from bold reds and blues to earthy greens and neutrals.

Pantone has made a thoughtful selection for its color of the year, choosing PANTONE 17-1230 Mocha Mousse, a soft and rich brown that evokes feelings of comfort and contentment. This particular shade embodies the essence of warmth and relaxation, making it an ideal choice for creating cozy, inviting spaces where individuals can unwind and feel at home. Mocha Mousse is versatile, seamlessly blending with various design aesthetics, from rustic to modern, and can be used effectively in both residential and commercial environments to foster a sense of serenity and comfort. Its earthy undertones provide a soothing backdrop that encourages relaxation, making it a favored choice for living rooms, bedrooms, and intimate gathering spaces.

On the other hand, Minwax has opted for a bold and regal hue: violet, specifically a deep eggplant purple that brings an element of sophistication and drama to interior design trends. This striking color can serve as a stunning accent in any room, adding depth and richness that can elevate the overall aesthetic. Violet is often associated with luxury and creativity, making it an excellent choice for spaces where one wishes to inspire imagination and elegance. Whether used on walls, furniture, or decorative elements, this deep purple hue can transform an ordinary space into a lavish retreat, encouraging bold design choices that make a statement.

PPG's 2025 color, Purple Basil, also known as Amethyst Shadow or Acai Berry, is a deep purple that aligns beautifully with the brand's "Kinetic" global color theme, which emphasizes vitality and energy. This vibrant shade not only captures attention but also promotes a sense of liveliness and dynamism within interiors. Purple Basil can be used effectively in various design applications, whether it’s as a primary wall color or as an accent in textiles and decor. Its rich tone is perfect for creating a focal point in a room, drawing the eye and sparking conversation. This color choice reflects a contemporary approach to design, where bold colors are embraced to create spaces that are not only visually striking but also full of life and character.

Dunn-Edwards has chosen Caramelized, a soft terracotta brown that adds warmth and earthy charm to any room. This inviting hue resonates with the natural world, evoking feelings of coziness and stability. Caramelized works beautifully in spaces that aim to create a welcoming atmosphere, often used in kitchens, dining areas, and family rooms where gatherings take place. Its warm undertones can enhance natural light, making spaces feel more open and inviting. This color choice reflects a growing trend towards incorporating natural elements into interior design, creating environments that feel grounded and connected to the earth.

In addition to these standout choices, other color trends for 2025 include honeyed neutrals, which are perfect for infusing a space with warmth and subtle elegance. These shades, often characterized by soft beige, creamy whites, and gentle taupes, can create a serene backdrop that allows for the incorporation of bolder accents without overwhelming the senses. Furthermore, earthy, warm tones are gaining popularity as an inviting alternative to the cooler, stark whites of previous years. These selections mark a significant shift towards more grounded, comforting color schemes that reflect a desire for connection and tranquility in the spaces we inhabit. The emphasis on these warmer palettes indicates a collective yearning for environments that foster well-being and a sense of belonging, making our living spaces not just places of residence but sanctuaries of peace and comfort.
