New York [USA] May 07: The 33rd annual GLAAD Media Awards took place in New York City tonight celebrating LGBTQ+ excellence in Hollywood. Honorees include FX’s Pose and Lil Nas X. The event is a continuation of the Los Angeles celebration.

The east coast ceremony was hosted by celebrity Peloton Instruction Cody Rigbsy and transgender recording artist, actress, GLAAD Board Member, and RuPaul’s Drag Race Alum Peppermint. The event also featured special performances from Dove Cameron and Michael R. Jackson.

Festival de Cannes [France]: VistaVerse is set to launch the first metaverse experience with Kamal Haasan’s ‘Vikram’ movie NFTs and theatrical trailer at the Cannes Film Festival 2022

Fantico, a Vistas Media Capital company, will launch its first metaverse experience in VistaVerse in partnership with Raaj Kamal Films International’s upcoming film Vikram starring Kamal Haasan, Vijay Sethupathi and Fahadh Faasil, directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj. The project will also offer Vikram NFTs, which will be a ticket to the experience, and many more utilities like unique artwork of characters, digital avatars, props, posters, film memorabilia, fan interaction moments, private screenings, and access to invite-only VistaDome parties.

The limited-edition Vikram NFTs will be launched on the 18th of May, 2022 at Cannes Film Festival amongst the global film fraternity.

Commenting on the launch of Vistaverse, Kamal Haasan said, “It has been a pleasure to be a part of Fantico, and I look forward to Vistaverse which is uniquely placed to create a bridge between fans, fandom and talent in a language and platform that the youth today relates to. I am sure this will set a benchmark for more creators to use this disruption of content by blockchain for their future endeavours.”


Festival de Cannes [France]: The 75th edition of the Cannes Film Festival will see two Asian films in the official In-Competition section. The highly-anticipated Broker by Japanese filmmaker Kore-eda Hirokazu and Decision to Leave by the prolific Park Chan-Wook will be part of the 21-film competitive category. Hunt, the directorial debut of Squid Game star Lee Jung-jae, will premiere in the midnight screening section.

A familiar face at Cannes, Park’s last film was The Handmaiden (2016), which also competed at the festival and later went on to gross nearly US$38 million worldwide. In 2003, he burst onto the scene with Cannes Grand Prix winner Oldboy.

Led by French actor Vincent Lindon, the Competition jury includes Bollywood actress Deepika Padukone and Iranian filmmaker Asghar Farhadi. In 2021, Farhadi received the Grand Prix prize at Cannes for his film A Hero. Previously, he received two Academy Awards for Best Foreign Language Film for his films A Separation (2011) and The Salesman (2016).
