New Delhi, December 12, 2024: The legendary Raj Kapoor’s enduring contribution to Indian cinema was commemorated in a heartfelt gathering hosted by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi. The event, held in New Delhi, brought together family members, dignitaries, and industry veterans to honor the celebrated filmmaker on the eve of his 100th birth anniversary.

Raj Kapoor's legacy was celebrated at a special event hosted by our honorable Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi.

Speaking at the event, the Kapoor family expressed deep gratitude to Prime Minister Modi for his warm invitation and unwavering support in celebrating the extraordinary legacy of Raj Kapoor. “Thank you, Shri Modi ji, for such a special afternoon. Your warmth, attention, and support in celebrating this milestone meant the world to us,” the family said.

As the world marks 100 years of Raj Kapoor's artistry, vision, and impact, the family announced the ‘Raj Kapoor 100 Film Festival,’ which will run from December 13-15, 2024. The festival will showcase 10 iconic films across 40 cities, with screenings in 135 cinemas nationwide, ensuring that his timeless contributions continue to inspire generations of cinephiles.

Raj Kapoor’s films, known for their emotional depth and social relevance, continue to influence Indian cinema today, making this centenary celebration a landmark event for film lovers and history enthusiasts.

The 55th International Film Festival of India (IFFI) concludes on November 28, 2024, at the Dr. Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Indoor Stadium, Goa, after nine days of celebrating global cinema with over 200 films from 75 countries, masterclasses, and panel discussions.


Key Features of the Event:

A Celebration of Indian Cinema

The Closing Ceremony will highlight the vibrancy of Indian cinema, featuring film personalities like Sukumar, Dil Raju, and Allu Arjun. Performances by Stebin Ben, Bhumi Trivedi, and others will blend music, dance, and cinematic charm.


Recognizing Excellence in Cinema

Awards will be presented, including the Golden Peacock for Best Feature Film and Silver Peacocks for Best Director and Actors. The Satyajit Ray Lifetime Achievement Award goes to Phillip Noyce, and Allu Arjun receives Special Recognition for Bharatiya Cinema.

The ceremony features performances like "Rhythms of India," showcasing classical dance forms, and concludes with the promise of an even more spectacular edition next year.

18th edition of NFDC film bazaar

Film Bazaar 2024, held as part of the 55th International Film Festival of India (IFFI) in Goa, concluded on a high note, celebrating cinematic innovation and global collaboration. Organized by the National Film Development Corporation (NFDC), the event brought together industry leaders, emerging filmmakers, and international partners to foster creativity and new ventures in the film industry.

Key highlights at the Film Bazaar during the International Film Festival of India included Mukesh Chhabra’s announcement of his collaboration of two projects in Co-Production Market (CPM) projects, offering his casting expertise at no cost. Film Bazaar also unveiled new partnerships with Final Draft, Film Independent Episodic Writing Workshop, and SAAVA & ATF IP Accelerator.

The Work in Progress (WIP) Awards recognized films like Kaatti Ri Raatti: Hunter’s Moon and Shape of Momo with significant post-production support. In the Film Bazaar Recommends (FBR) category, three films received Rs. 3 lakh in sponsorship and promotional benefits. Deadly Dosas by Anusree Kelat won the Student Producer Workshop Pitch Award.

The newly introduced Co-Production Market Feature Cash Grants saw Kurinji (The Disappearing Flower) win First Prize. The French Institute of India was honoured for its role in promoting French participation. The event closed with a teaser for WAVES 2025, setting the stage for another year of ground-breaking achievements in Film Bazaar.
