Food and Fashion

The show, co-curated by Melissa Marra-Alvarez, MFIT's curator of education and research, and Elizabeth Way, the museum's associate curator of costume, will feature over 80 garments and accessories, including outfits by Chanel, Moschino, and Stella McCartney.

The exhibition's commentary is heavily centred on culinary themes and motifs, which are utilised to investigate topics such as luxury, gender, consumerism, sustainability, social action, and body politics.

An introduction exhibition spans from breakfast to supper time in the form of intimate tableaus, as well as delving into social media as a venue where food and fashion collide.

The main gallery is supposed to resemble a 'food hall,' with stalls focusing on 10 different themes, such as haute couture/haute cuisine, dressing to dine, and a feast for the eyes.

Other themes, such as 'Sugar, Spice, and Everything Nice?' investigate the relationship between food and gender identities, using a pearl and dessert-print dress by Junya Watanabe as an example.

The show is expected to run from September 13 to November 26, 2023, and will be accompanied by a book and a symposium on November 3.

RE:TV is the new platform for showcasing “sustainable solutions to the climate and biodiversity crisis,” according to the King. It is the digital extension of his non-profit, also called RE:TV, which he founded in 2020. The org has made over 100 short films about innovative environmental projects worldwide, which have previously been launched on platforms including Bloomberg and Waterbear.

RE: TV will be able to debut its material immediately online now that it has its own YouTube page.

To mark the occasion, RE: TV has produced a short film titled "The Speeches: 50 Years of Speaking Up For The Planet," in which 19 actors and environmentalists quote some of King Charles's environmental speeches from 1970 to 2020 when he was still the Prince of Wales.

Elba Colman and Woody Harrelson are among them, as well as actor Glenn Close, BBC gardening presenter Danny Clarke, YouTube environmental activist Jack Harries, and climate activist Leah Thomas.

The lectures are interlaced with video clips of deforestation, garbage, and climate change effects such as flooding.

Atomized Studios produced the short, which was directed by Anatole Sloan. Zad Rodgers and Dan Watt-Smith executive produced, while Zoe Evans produced. Nathan Klein is the composer and Alana O'Neill is the production manager. The music was recorded live at London's Air Edel Studios.
