Washington [US], June 29: National Broadcasting Company (NBC) has ordered eight episodes of 'Surviving Earth,' an unscripted series about how life not only survived but thrived during the catastrophic events of the prehistoric era. The series aims to find the lessons that can be learned from past mass extinctions.

'Surviving Earth' is co-produced by Universal Television Alternative Studio and UK indie production company Loud Minds. Each hour-long episode will use digital technology to visualize prehistoric landscapes and events including meteor falls, eruptions of super volcanoes, boiling seas and moving land, as per Variety.

"This epic event series promises to be unlike anything we've seen before, with state-of-the-art technology recreating an immersive view of prehistoric Earth. With a project of this magnitude, we're in excellent hands with Universal Television Alternative Studio and Loud Minds on board bringing it to life," said Rod Aissa, executive vice president of unscripted content at NBC Universal Television and Streaming.

Toby Gorman, president of Universal Television Alternative Studio said, "This documentary series brings to life the rich history of our planet to shed light on its future. It's a thrill to tap into the latest technology while diving into Earth's prehistoric past alongside our partners at Loud Minds. We're excited to bring this unparalleled project to NBC."

Mumbai [India], June 29: Arjun Kapoor seems to be very excited about the release of his upcoming film 'Ek Villain 2'. After the first look posters of its cast were unveiled, the actors have been busy creating buzz for the film on their social media.

Arjun, who was busy celebrating his birthday in Paris with beau Malaika, has also joined the bandwagon. The actor posted a slew of pictures from Paris where he is seen holding the famous Ek Villain's smiley mask.

Arjun is going to be back to the bay now and has promised 'epic villainy' in the film. Standing on the streets of Paris, Arjun posed for pictures in a black blazer layered over a round-neck t-shirt and black pants as he held the 'Ek Villain' masks in hand. He wrote, "#EkVillain was in Paris and is now headed to Mumbai for the Big launch. Brace yourselves for some epic villainy coming your way! #EkVillainReturns".

Arjun Kapoor starrer 'Ek Villain Returns' has been in the making for quite some time now. The film is slated for July 29 release and stars Tara Sutaria, Disha Patani and John Abraham alongside Kapoor. Earlier this week, the makers of the film unveiled the first-look posters of the actors. In the posters, every actor can be seen in a dark and intense look, showing up their villainous avatars and holding up the same yellow smiley mask.

The cast wrapped up shooting last year and the film was earlier supposed to release on July 8, however makers earlier this month postponed the date to July 29. Produced by Balaji Telefilms and T-Series, The film is directed by Mohit Suri. Mohit Suri has earlier helmed films like 'Half Girlfriend', 'Aashiqui 2', 'Murder 2' and 'Zeher' among many others. 'Ek Villain Returns' marks John Abraham's first collaboration with the director. Arjun Kapoor has previously worked with him in 'Half Girlfriend'. Disha Patani also collaborated with him in his last film 'Malang'. The film is a sequel to the 2014 film 'Ek Villain' starring Sidharth Malhotra and Shraddha Kapoor.



Mumbai [India], June 29: Bollywood actor Kajol Devgn and Tamil actor Suriya have made India proud yet again. The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences which hosts the Oscars every year has invited Kajol and Suriya amongst others to become a member of the Academy Class.

According to an official statement of The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, the organization has shared a list of invitees announcing the new members of the Academy Class for the year 2022, extending 397 invitations to 'distinguished artists and executives'.

"The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences is extending invitations to 397 distinguished artists and executives to join the organization in 2022. Membership selection is based on professional qualifications, with an ongoing commitment to representation, inclusion and equity. This year's class of invitees includes 71 Oscar nominees, including 15 winners," read the statement. From India, the Bollywood 'Jhalli' girl Kajol Devgan has been honoured to become a member of the prestigious Academy Class, famed for her stunning performances in films like 'My Name Is Khan', 'Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham', 'Kuch Kuch Hota Hai', and 'Fanaa'. The actor has ruled Bollywood in the 90s decade, opposite the famous Khans - Shah Rukh Khan, Salman, and Aamir.

Meanwhile, talking about Suriya, he has been featured in many notable Tamil films like the revolutionary 'Jai Bhim', 'Kaappaan' and 'Rakht Charitra 2'. Now the actor has paired up with Bollywood star Akshay Kumar for the Hindi remake of his 2020 Tamil action-drama 'Sorarai Pottru'.

Apart from Kajol and Suriya, The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has also invited talented artists like Jamie Dornan, Michael Greyeyes, Anya Taylor-Joy, and Billie Eilish on board as well. In the scripting department, writers Reema Kagt who penned the Ranveer Singh starrer 'Gully Boy', and 'Dil Dhadakne Do' has been invited by The Academy. Indian-American producer, Aditya Sood who backed super-hit Hollywood films like 'Deadpool', and 'The Martian' has also been invited as well.
