One accusation. One young woman who refuses to remain silent. And a world determined to decide what the truth should look like. The trailer of Hunkkaar: The Roar has been unveiled by JioHotstar, offering a tense first glimpse into a gripping drama where power, perception and belief collide.

Starring Aneet Padda, Fatima Shaikh, Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub, Arjun Mathur, Raghubir Yadav and Ram Kapoor, the series revolves around Meenu Rawat, played by Aneet Padda, a young woman whose choices challenge the conventional idea of how a victim is expected to behave.
Rather than presenting truth as something straightforward, Hunkkaar: The Roar appears to build its narrative around conflicting perspectives. As Meenu refuses to back down, the story moves through a police investigation, courtroom proceedings and the media, with each space offering a different version of events.
At the centre of this battle is ACP Jasleen Singh Soni, played by Fatima Shaikh, who finds herself navigating a case where influence, public opinion and power make the search for truth increasingly complicated. Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub plays Bhalerao, an underdog whose belief in what the law should stand for places him firmly in the fight.
The trailer also highlights the layered nature of Meenu, a character who is not defined solely by what happened to her but by what she chooses to do next. Her defiance becomes one of the driving forces of the narrative, while those around her are forced to confront their own assumptions about truth and credibility.
Aneet Padda describes Meenu as “young, complicated and not always easy to understand,” while Fatima Shaikh points to the moral complexity surrounding ACP Jasleen's investigation. Zeeshan Ayyub, meanwhile, describes Bhalerao as the underdog of the story, fighting against heavily stacked power dynamics.
Directed by Karan D Kapadia, Nitya Mehra and Heeraz Marfatia, and created by Karan D Kapadia and Nitya Mehra, Hunkkaar: The Roar is produced by Birla Studios and Applause Entertainment, in association with Purple Pebble Pictures, and is an A Mangata Films Production. Priyanka Chopra Jonas serves as Executive Producer.
For Priyanka Chopra Jonas, the series represents the kind of storytelling that her production company Purple Pebble Pictures seeks to support — stories driven by distinct voices and filmmakers with a strong point of view. The series brings together JioHotstar, Birla Studios, Applause Entertainment and Purple Pebble Pictures for a narrative designed to provoke conversations around belief, judgement and the courage to speak.
The trailer suggests that Hunkkaar: The Roar is less interested in offering easy answers and more invested in making audiences question what they see, what they are told and ultimately, whom they choose to believe.
Hunkkaar: The Roar premieres September 25, exclusively on JioHotstar.
