According to The Hollywood Reporter, Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick, who have writing credits on the first two 'Deadpool films' and are working on 'Deadpool 3' for director Shawn Levy, told an entertainment outlet that joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe will not change the overall feel that fans loved about the previous movies. Speaking about the franchise, Reese said, "It's a thrill. It's an absolute thrill to have the band back together, to have a new backdrop in the MCU with new characters, new villains, that kind of thing.

You know, it's never a marriage we necessarily saw coming -- Fox and Disney that was an external thing [separate] from our storytelling process. But we're absolutely finding the serendipity and the gold in that situation, or we're trying to." Wernick added, "Deadpool is gonna be Deadpool," which led Reese to confirm that fans need not worry about the studio trying to make the tone more family-friendly for the new film. As for whether the screenwriters started fresh or will incorporate aspects of a previous draft written by Wendy Molyneux and Lizzie Molyneux-Logelin, Reese said, "We have an answer." He then continued, "But we're really not supposed to divulge any plot details."

The Hollywood Reporter reported, that Reese also joked that the writing pair, who wrote Netflix's upcoming 'Spiderhead' starring Chris Hemsworth, has been holed away in a "secret vault under an ocean somewhere" to work on the 'Deadpool' script. The upcoming 'Deadpool 3' will be the first since Disney acquired 20th Century Fox, which released 'Deadpool' (2016) and its sequel in 2018.

Following the acquisition, there had been doubts about whether Disney would seek to maintain its family-friendly image, which is far from what 'Deadpool' films usually are, however, Disney's then-chairman and CEO Bob Iger had diminished those concerns in 2019, as per Variety.

Sometimes, for a television crafts artist, genre can make your job a lot easier. Science fiction and westerns are both genres with distinct enough aesthetics to provide a starting point when designing a show. But what do you do when asked to combine the two?

That was the task given to the team behind “Outer Range.” Amazon’s mind-bending drama follows a Wyoming Rancher (Josh Brolin) struggling to hold onto his land when he finds a massive black hole in his field. The fusion of the two genres is one of the show’s main selling points, and its team worked hard to combine them into a unique look.

To discuss this process, executive producer and director Lawrence Trilling, production designer Tommaso Ortino, VFX supervisor Jason Piccioni, editor and producer Travis Baker, and composers Danny Bensi and Saunder Jurriaans sat down with Jim Hemphill at IndieWire’s Consider This FYC Brunch, held in Hollywood.

As it turns out, sometimes the best way to combine the genres is to ignore them entirely, to avoid leaning too heavily on specific tropes.

“One thing that we immediately decided was not to go into any genre too heavily,” said composer Jurriaans. “We could score the show as a Western, we could score it as a sci-fi, but what we decided was to take a middle ground and not go with either.”

An element which helped is that much of the show’s set was fabricated from scratch. While some might groan at the task of having to construct an entire farm, the production team saw it as an opportunity to build a world that fit the precise specifications of the show’s unique tone.

“The ranch did not exist before. It was a piece of land that was spotted as ideal, but we built that from scratch,” said Ortino. “Which gave our department an incredible opportunity, because we were doing everything.”

IndieWire’s Consider This FYC Brunch assembled some of the top talent behind five Emmy-contending shows to discuss the work that goes into creating great television. In addition to “Outer Range,” the event included panels on Apple TV+’s “Pachinko,” HBO Max’s “The Staircase,” Showtime’s “Yellowjackets,” and Hulu’s “Pam & Tommy.”
