The Communiqué News

The Berlinale Series jury Mette Heeno, André Holland and Danna Stern – has decided: The first Berlinale Series Award in cooperation with Deadline goes to The Good Mothers. A Special Mention has been dedicated to the Norwegian Series Arkitekten (The Architect ).

The Team of the winning series of the first Berlinale Series Award, The Good Mothers: Daniel Frigo (country manager The Walt Disney Company Italia), Elisa Amoruso (director), Julian Jarrold (director), Alessandro Saba (head of productions The Walt Disney Company Italia)

The original jury statement:

“The Good Mothers captured us with its multi-layered characters that are treated with care and allow to evolve before our very eyes. We were moved, anxious and, at times, breathless.

The series creators have been meticulous in recreating an authentic and detailed world, presented by a stellar cast, with performances that made our hearts skip a beat.

The beautiful cinematography, production design and locations contribute to the ultra-realistic feel of the show, which is only right, considering it is based on true events and on real life characters – the courageous women who stood up to decades of oppression and misogyny and helped bring down the Calabrian mafia.”

The Berlinale Series Award is the first A-festival award created specifically for a series. With the introduction of the Berlinale Series in 2015, the Berlinale became the world's first A-list festival to recognise changing viewing habits and the importance of serial storytelling.

Seven series were nominated for the Berlinale Series Award, which was presented on Wednesday, February 22, at Zoo Palast.

Washington (US), Feb 4: Apple CEO Tim Cook praised Indian filmmakers Vishal Bhardwaj and Ishan Khatter's recently released short film 'Fursat' on Saturday.

Taking to Twitter, Tim wrote, "Check out this beautiful Bollywood film from director @VishalBhardwaj that explores what might happen if you could see into the future. Incredible cinematography and choreography, and all #ShotoniPhone."

Vishal Bhardwaj is in charge. Ishaan and Wamiqa Gabbi star in the short film 'Fursat,' which was shot entirely on an iPhone. The 30-minute short film received positive feedback from viewers after it was released on Apple's official YouTube channel.

The film, according to Apple, is a magical story about a man who is so obsessed with controlling the future that he risks losing what he values most in the present. During the lockdown, many directors from various languages experimented with advanced technology-based shooting techniques.

Some actor-directors committed suicide while being locked inside a room. Taking advantage of this opportunity, the tech titans have commissioned notable directors to shoot with smartphones. Vishal Bhardwaj is the most recent addition to the band.

In 'Fursat,' Vishal, known for his aesthetic sensibility, has played with the theme of time travel. Wamiqa Gabbi, a Punjabi actor, rose to national prominence with the Disney Plus Hotstar series 'Grahan' and the Netflix series 'Mai: A Mother's Rage." In Majid Majidi's debut film, 'Beyond the Clouds,' Ishaan Khatter demonstrated his acting chops. The film, directed by Gurmmeet Singh and written by Ravi Shankaran and Jasvinder Singh Bath, failed to wow audiences at the box office.

Arvind Singgh Rajpoot, who produced and directed the popular song 'Bhagwaan Bachaaye' and has been a creative director on films such as 'FootFairy,' 'Sur Lagu De' (Marathi), and many others, has launched his own banner 'Scinemasters Entertainment'. This banner will make its debut in Marathi cinema, with three films set to be released in the next three to four months.

Films under the 'Scinemasters Entertainment' banner will be distributed by 'Pickle Entertainment,' which has previously been involved in super hit films such as 'Mumbai Pune Mumbai,' 'Jhenda,' 'Boyz,' 'Takatak,' and many more.

With the much-anticipated films 'Raghuveer,' 'Hoy Maharaja,' and 'Umbrella,' this banner will make its debut in Marathi cinema. Arvind Singgh Rajpoot of 'Scinemasters Entertainment' expressed his excitement about the situation, saying, "We are very excited that three Marathi films will be released in the next three to four months, and this is just the beginning. We, as a banner, believe in supporting content-driven films and are committed to the long haul. By the end of 2023, we hope to have released ten films in both Hindi and Marathi."
